I broke her heart ten years ago and left town.
She hates me, and rightly so. It doesn’t matter that the rest of the country loves me, that I’m a starting quarterback with a multimillion-dollar contract. Because when I look in the mirror, all I see is a failure who was too young—and too afraid—to fight for what I wanted.
But I’m not that guy anymore, and all I need is one shot to convince her.
********
He has no idea what happened after he left. And now I’m supposed to work alongside him like we don’t have this huge, messy history?
But I’m older now, wiser, and I won’t let anything stand in my way of doing a good job for this league. Not even one overpaid, arrogant player who thinks we’re going to kiss and make up.
Kim's 4 Star Review
Heart broken and
moving teams isn’t easy. What makes it
even harder is when the assistant manager is your high school sweetheart, Jane
Royce, who dumped you without telling you why.
Weston Chase is ready for the changes in store for him but is Jane ready
to for the changes in store for her?
I was gifted the
book in exchanged for an honest review.
Jane is an independent
woman who knows what she wants. She was
raised to live and breathe football but she would’ve even if her father wasn’t
the coach of the football team she works for.
Being the assistant manager for the hawks has it’s perks, like working
with her father and seeing the surprised looks on people face when she tells
them what her career is. When her father
walked into her office to let her know about the new player their team
acquired, the last person she thought he’d bring up was her ex-boyfriend,
Weston (Wes) Chase. Jane may have had her heart broken by her high school
sweetheart and was the one to officially break things off but it was only after
Wes checked out of their relationship before she ended.
Wes is one of
the hottest quarterbacks in the league but he’s ready for a change. Going to
back Chicago should be a dream as he will be working with his favour
coach. Of course with the good there is
always the bad, and in this case his ex-girlfriends is the team’s assistant
manager. She was the love of his life
until she ended things without any reason that he knew or understood. Seeing her again could bring up old feelings
and right now that was the last things he needed. Like any athlete he’s alpha male and the
looks to go with it.
As I read this
book there were times when I just wanted to scream at Wes for his stupidity so
he ends up in my bad books. Then he does
something so sweet and I’m in awe of how he can redeem himself. I get where he’s coming from but his
execution is not as well thought out. At
least he has Jane’s feeling in mind.
This shows just how much he cares for her. The problem being is that these two belong
together but he can’t see it. They are
the epitome of soul mates. When these
two are in the same room you can cut the sexual tension with a knife. They still have a lot in common like they did
when they were dating. They are the
perfect couple.
When I saw this
book come up for review I had to get my hands on it. I haven’t found a book that Kendall wrote
that I did love and this was no different. Kendall wrote an amazing second
chance romance that had me hooked from the start. I had the ups and downs and even have me wanting
to reach into the book to` smack Wes upside the head. The characters pull you into the story. You feel like you’re a part of the book. If this book isn’t on your list to read list,
then you should be putting it on!!!
