Kim's 5 Star Review

When Clementine (Clem) Johns shows up in Ed Larsen’s tattoo parlor with no memory of what happened between them, it leaves Ed questioning what happened himself. He knows what his Clem was like before their break up but now she has stepped back into his life, he isn’t so sure they should be talking as she nearly destroyed him the first time.  Will this be a second chance for the couple or will old habits keep them apart?

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review

Clem isn’t like most women her age.  She took time out to take care of her mother while she was sick and later past away. Clem always thought of herself as a strong independent woman but she had insecurities when it came to her relationship with Ed. Clem always knew that a man like him was out of her league, or at least that what she thought. After the attack that caused her memory loss, Clem is trying to put her life back together. She doesn’t necessarily want to go back to the woman she was but considering she can’t remember her, the chances are not good that she will be that woman again. Clem is willing to do what it takes to get her life back and may be Ed too.

Ed was heartbroken as the break up with Clem. Just when he is getting him life back on track she walks into his place of work claiming not to remember. He’s not sure if he should trust anything she says. After getting a call from Clem’s sister these two are thrown back together.  Ed has always prided himself as being a confident man who is comfortable in his own skin like any alpha male.  He takes pride in the business he not only runs but owns.

Before Clem’s re-set button was hit, she and Ed were great lovers but had some issues that shouldn’t have broken them a part.  Ed loved everything about Clem and couldn’t get enough of her.  Clem was a light high strung but he truly loved her and she him. Now that Clem can’t remember a thing about who she was, this could be their second chance. It’s no surprise that Ed is hesitant about second chances or even spending time with her but it seems like fate keeps pushing them together.

Kylie knows how to hook her readers.  As soon as I got a taste of this book I couldn’t put it down. I get why Ed hesitated when Clem walked back into his life. Once you’re burnt by someone, the trust is gone. Although she may not remember, who’s to say she has changed. People don’t change that much. I have a great deal of respect for Clem as she tries her best not to hurt Ed again but her lack of memory hurt him without her knowing. As these two spend time together, they get to know the new Clem and how she and Ed are like together. With a few incidents that seem weird and out of place put Clem’s safety in question and brings out Ed’s protective side. They may not be together anymore but Ed doesn’t want to see her get hurt more than she has already. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out who attacked Clem and why.  Kylie keep me on a roller coaster ride with these questions floating around.  I thought I knew who it was a few times but she kept me guessing until the end. I’ve love Kylie’s books since I found the Stage dive series and she has proven her writing skills have only gotten better. She is truly an amazing writer and this book is a new favourite of mine!
