What
inspired Boys of Fall?
After finishing "Rendezvous in Room
311" for the Frost Collection, I was pretty drained and in a slump as far
as writing goes. Words were still happening, but I just wasn't thrilled by them
or anxious to be at that task every day. Mainly because I was on my 8th straight
rounds of edits between Unloved and Frost. That's a bad combination for
creating.
My friend Karen and I were chatting about
me being down in the dumper and she was trying to knock me back on track.
Finally, she said, "Go write some super hot sex, you'll feel better."
We laughed and I went to bed that night feeling a little better for talking it
out with my pal. She'd lit a much-needed spark. That night the idea for Boys of
Fall formed. Immediately the other three novellas lined up in my head too.
I liked the newness of a super steamy,
non-paranormal. It's something I'd never written before. I also loved the idea
of having an extremely hot, self-aware paring, but yet with a very, very sweet
hero. Jerry is a dream character to write! I also loved that Autumn was the one
who knew her body best because she'd taken the time to explore it before anyone
else. That gal knows what she likes and isn't a bit shy about saying so. I'm
absolutely no fan of simpering, unsure heroines when it comes to their bodies.
All the couples in upcoming novella's GIRLS
OF WINTER, BOYS OF SUMMER, and GIRLS OF SPRING are all forward thinking and
confident in their bodies. It has been great fun to create their stories and
I'm really looking forward to sharing them with readers.
