I grab Catalina by her shoulders and push her against the door of our shared suite, my arms pinning her in place. My heart is racing a mile a minute with my sudden display of aggression. Raine Kendall has loved her boss Macen Hammerman (Hammer) since he rescued her from the alley six years ago.  She has lived and worked at his BDSM club ever since serving him in hopes he’ll see her submissive side and make her his sub.  After finally getting the courage to go for what she wants, Hammer rejects her.  The sting of the rejection hurts and has her fleeing the club but Hammer’s best friend Liam convinces her to stay in hopes that he can heal both their hearts.  What Liam didn’t count on was falling in love with Raine.  Will Raine get the man she’s always loved or will Liam surprise her and claim her for his own?

I was given this in exchange for an honest review.

Raine Kendall was handed a crappy hand in life.  Her family had all but abandoned her, leaving her with a bitter old man for a father.  As the abuse got worse, she decided that it would be best to leave like he told her too.  The night that Hammer found her was the night that she finally felt like she had a place where she belonged.  Raine is a feisty, strong fiercely independent woman who wants to find a Dom that she can give her gift of submission to.  She thought Hammer was the Dom for her but he has kept her at arm’s length and taken many other subs, one of which she couldn’t understand what he saw in her.  The day his sub disrespect Raine was the first time that Hammer showed that he cared for her.  That night Raine finally had built up enough courage to go to his room and show him that she’s not the underage frightened teenager he found in the alley behind the club.  The sting of rejection hit her hard.  The pain and sting of the rejection has her fleeing the club not wanting to stay anymore now that she knows Hammer doesn’t want her.  After Liam convinces her to stay, he takes her under his wing and teaches her want she has always craved.

Hammer has wanted Raine since the day he found her but she was underage, lost and alone.  He took her in and under his protection.  He made sure that no Dom at his club would ever touch her.  Hammer wants her more than anything but after what happened to his late wife, he feels like he doesn’t deserve her and that she needs someone better than him.  The problem is the Dom and Alpha male in him is craving and demanding that he claim her for himself.  She is a young, inexperienced submissive begging to be taken and trained.  When Raine sneaks into his private bedroom and in his bed while he is sleeping, he gives into the pleasure she gives him until he realizes that it’s not a dream.  This enrages him and he decides to show her what kind of Dom he is and punishes her.  When she pushes back things don’t go according to plan and just when he thinks she is going to stick around, his best friend Liam steps in.

Liam has been Hammers best friend for more than a decade.  He knows him better than anyone else.  He knows the death of Hammer’s wife has left him reeling and in the depth of darkness.  Liam comes up with a plan to heal Hammer’s heart and that includes getting Hammer and Raine together as he is sure she can heal his heart.  When he finds Hammer and Raine in an intense heated discuss and Raine trying to flee the club he steps in and put his plan into action.  He convinces Hammer that he’ll find a way to keep Raine from moving out if the club and he gives Raine the chance to learn how to properly submit to a Dom.  After Hammer takes things too far Raine takes Liam up on his offer and ends up under his protection.  What Liam didn’t expect was to fall for Raine.

The writing trio of Shayla Black, Jenna Jacob, and Isabella LaPearl was full of hot intense scenes that can make a girl blush.  The chemistry between Raine and Hammer and between Raine and Liam is so very different yet undeniable.  Raine is confused by the fact that she cares very deeply for two very different men.  She tries to show Hammer that she isn’t a child, like he treats her but when she is faced with his willingness to give her what she wants after agreeing to be Liam’s, she shows that she still needs to do some growing up.  Liam is more than patient with her and gives her many chances to prove that she can have what she craves, a Dom who will care and protect her.  The more time Raine spends with Liam the more she falls for him.  Both don’t know how it happened so fast.  When Hammer sees what the two share, this leaves him jealous and feeling like an idiot for not taking what was his.  This leaves the two best friends at odds.  This is the first in the series so we are left wondering what Hammer’s next move will be and how Liam and Raine with deal with the challenges ahead of them.  Both men want Raine to be theirs and are willing to do whatever it takes to make her theirs but at what expense.  I’m really looking forward to see where their story goes in “The Young and Submissive”
