Review Blitz for Mister Tonight by Kendall Ryan

From New York Times bestselling author Kendall Ryan comes a standalone romance about a swoony single dad and the new neighbor he falls for.

Last night was the most embarrassing night of my life.

I was THAT girl.

You know, the highly intoxicated chick celebrating her thirtieth with her two best friends—the ones who are happily married. And the more I drank, the more I wanted to do something reckless to celebrate.

By reckless, I meant the sexy and alluring man dressed in a business suit standing near the bar. You know his type—tall, dark, and handsome. I was sure he was out of my league, but I'd had just enough alcohol that things like that no longer seemed to matter. I'm not fat, mind you, but you can tell I like French fries, so there's that.

He took me home and I enjoyed the hottest birthday sex of my life, well until it came to a screeching, and rather unwelcome halt.

There's nothing quite like being interrupted mid-ride with a little voice asking:

"What are you doing to my daddy?"

Just kill me now…... or so I thought.

Come to find out the man I rode like a bull at the rodeo is my new landlord.

Kim's 4 Star Review

Kate just wanted to celebrate her 30th birthday with her married friends and maybe spend one night with the gorgeous guy standing at the bar.  Knowing he was way out of her league and having enough liquid courage in her system she made her way over to him and then to his house. What was supposed to be a one night of hot birthday sex turned out to be more than she expected.

I was gifted the book in exchange for an honest review.

Kate prides herself on being a strong independent woman who doesn’t need or want a relationship.  Her skewed view of them comes from seeing how badly her sister’s marriage ended.  She believes that all she needs is a night with a guy and her life and her heart will be safe and protected.  Turning thirty wasn’t a big deal for her.  With her current roommate newly engage, she is looking for a new place to live but finding one that will also double as her office space for her to write her gossip column and in her price range hasn’t been easy.

Hunter’s life isn’t like most men his age.  He was a single father to a 4 year old little girl, Maddie who took up most of his time.  Hunter loved her having her all to himself but like any parent, he needed some adult time.  Going to the bar for a drink and maybe a casual fling to break his six month dry spell seemed like a good idea at the time.  Seeing Kate across the bar in her killer dress caught his attention but having her come to him just made his night.  Bringing her home may not have been the best idea he had, especially since he hadn’t told her about his daughter.  What could possibly go wrong other than having his daughter walk in on them or having Kate run out without knowing how to contact her?

Kate and Hunter are polar opposites when it comes to what they want out of life.  Kate is against relationships and has always stuck to casual flings.  Hunter on the other is looking for the one to spend the rest of his life with.  He doesn’t have a shortage of woman asking him out but what they see is a single dad not a man. Hunter wants to be seen for who he is and not what is he.  Kate seen him, as the man not the father.

The moment Kate and Hunter met sparks flew.  Their attraction is undeniable.  Both Kate and Hunter know it.  When fate brought them together more than once, it’s hard for Kate to fight.  She wants to finish what they started before Hunter’s daughter walked in on them.  She has never felt anything like this before towards any guy she even met. Hunter is everything she wanted and doesn’t want all rolled into one.  Fate seems to have its own idea and keeps pushing these two together.

What I found intriguing was that Kate, the admitted commitment-phobe was challenge by a 4 year old who won the not only Kate’s heart but mine too.  Both Hunter and Kate try to be friends while having a casual fling but couldn’t keep their hands off each other. When Hunter does as Kate requested, she finds herself realizing that may be just maybe she isn’t quite so ready to give up the one man who makes her feel amazing in many different ways. I love how Maddie gives Kate the cold shoulder when she shows up at their house again to rent the garage apartment. Maddie is a smart little girl, who may be too smart for her own good but is great at protecting her father for what she sees as an unwelcome intrusion into their life. I think that Maddie making Kate work for her acceptance actually worked in Hunters favour.  He may have been willing to give Kate the casual fling she wanted but it was a far cry from what he wanted.  He knew the attraction between them was something both couldn’t fight but waiting for Kate to finally see what he already knew was going to take a great deal of his patience.

Kendall took two very different characters and brought them together, while adding a 4 year old little girl to the story. This turned out to be one of the best recipes for a hilarious yet amazing love story I’ve read this year.  This is one story I know I’ll be reading over again!
